The real story behind Jesus Walks Voyage Academy —
told by the man who lived both sides of it.
At 16, I wasn't searching for a career. I was searching for love.
I left my mother's house chasing something I didn't have a name for yet. Got into a relationship. Moved out. And at 16 years old, found out I was going to be a father. Everything changed overnight.
With a child on the way and no roadmap, I made one of the best accidental decisions of my life. I enrolled in a maritime academy program at my high school. Not because I had a plan. Because I needed one.
That decision planted a seed I didn't fully understand yet. By the time I graduated, I had more than a diploma. I had the foundation for a six-figure career before most people had their first real job.
The maritime industry gave me everything I didn't grow up with: financial freedom I'd never seen, access to a world I'd only dreamed about, a career path with real advancement, and more money than I knew what to do with.
And that was exactly the problem.
I was prepared for the job. I was completely unprepared for the life. Nobody taught me what to do when the money started coming. Nobody warned me about the psychological cost of isolation at sea. Nobody showed me how to maintain relationships across oceans. Nobody told me that success without healing is just postponed destruction.
I made every mistake in the book.
The lifestyle caught me. The money disappeared. The relationships collapsed. The career unraveled.
I found myself in a place I never expected: homeless, broken, and fighting for my life. Mental health struggles that had been buried under success finally surfaced. The trauma I'd been running from since 16 had nowhere left to hide.
Rock bottom has a way of getting your attention.
That's where I found Jesus. Not as a concept. Not as a religion. As the only thing left when everything else was gone.
Faith didn't fix everything overnight. The road back was long, hard, and humbling. It required resilience I didn't know I had, obedience I didn't always want to give, and a willingness to start over completely.
I became a case manager for homeless veterans — people who had served this country and found themselves invisible. Forgotten. Struggling with the same things I was: mental health, purpose, belonging, identity.
Working with them healed something in me. Serving others when you have nothing left is how you find out who you actually are.
Then came the call back to the ships. This time, I went back different.
Not just with experience. With wisdom. Not just with skills. With systems. Not just with ambition. With purpose.
Six figures again — but this time built on a foundation that couldn't be destroyed.
And that's when I remembered what my high school maritime teacher told me years earlier: "When you get some experience, come back and teach." They shut down the program before I returned. So I built my own.
Jesus Walks Voyage Academy exists because I lived both sides of this story.
I know what it feels like to be invisible. I know what it feels like to be unstoppable. And I know the difference between the two isn't luck, privilege, or circumstances. It's the map. The mindset. The mission. And the community.
I'm not standing ahead of you. I'm running alongside you. This academy is the guide I wish existed when I was 16, broke, and expecting a child with no direction and no one to show me the way.
If I can go from that moment to this movement, you can go from wherever you are right now to wherever God is calling you.
Your voyage starts today.
JWVA is a faith-based holistic life transformation and maritime career readiness
academy. We don’t just train you for a job - we equip you for life. Through the Map, the
Mindset, the Mission, and the Community, we help you navigate beyond your limitations
and transcend your value.
This is a movement for people who refuse to accept average as their destiny.
No. JWVA is faith-inspired, not faith-required. Our founder’s journey is rooted in faith,
but our doors are open to everyone serious about transformation.
What we require is hunger, commitment, and the willingness to do the work. Your beliefs
are your own. Your results are what matter here.
Absolutely not. Maritime careers are built on skills, certifications, and character - not
diplomas.
Our founder built a six-figure career as a teen parent without a college degree. We’ll
show you exactly what certifications you need and how to get them efficiently.
Skills over paperwork. Always
The Starter Map is your foundation. It gives you the complete industry overview, career
path options across all three departments, certification roadmap, and the insider
knowledge most people spend years trying to figure out alone.
It’s the guide our founder wishes existed when he was 16 with a baby on the way and no one to show him the way.
Two paths forward:
GET THE STARTER MAP if you want to understand the opportunity and take your first
concrete steps immediately.
APPLY TO THE ACADEMY if you’re ready for complete life and career transformation
with full support and community access.
Either way, your voyage starts today.
Yes. We believe transformation should be accessible to everyone who is serious about
changing their life.
Payment plans are available for Academy programs. Apply and we will work with you to
find an option that fits your situation. We’re not here to profit from struggle. We’re here
to end it.
Because the cost of waiting is real.
Every month delayed is another month of inflation eating your purchasing power,
another month of job insecurity, another month of not becoming who you were made to
be.
The maritime industry has over 89,000 unfilled positions right now. Baby boomers are
retiring daily. Companies are desperate for qualified crew.
This window exists right now. Your life is happening right now. Your family needs you to
decide right now.
You were born valuable. It’s time to navigate toward that truth.
